Job Description

JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE TEAM LEADER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Maintenance Team Lead or Lead Maintenance Technician (LMT) is the first line Team Lead of the Maintenance Mechanic Team in the specified area of responsibility. The LMT is a working Team Lead, meaning the LMT is to work alongside the Maintenance Team and be the Team Lead. The LMT is responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of process equipment and piping systems in the assigned areas of the plant. We currently have two shifts for this position, 8 Hr. day and 12 Hr. rotating swing shift that will be determined by maintenance management as needed.

LMT EXPECTATIONS:

  • Require that the maintenance team follows all safety policies and performs work in the safest manner

  • Require that the maintenance team adhere to the specifications, standards, and best practices for each task (no short cuts)

  • Review jobs in the field to ensure safety policies and best practices are followed and correct as necessary

  • Review jobs in the field to ensure a high quality of workmanship and correct as necessary

  • Proactively Learn and Understand the best practices for plant maintenance and safety and be an advocate for the practices they learn

  • Require that the maintenance team slow down and be thoughtful about how to execute a job safely

  • Expect that the maintenance team SCAN’s the job as it progresses and implement changes to mitigate the hazards that exist

  • Understand the scope of each job the team is working on

  • Provide guidance to the team on how to execute the scope of the job

  • Require that the maintenance team receives and understands the job plan provided by the planner

  • Require that the maintenance team provides feedback on all planning sheets

  • Pair groups of workers together to not only complete the work but also provide an opportunity for each team member to grow and improve

  • Be thoughtful and efficient with team manpower assignments

  • Manage break-ins, prioritize tasks, and drive efficiency in the field

  • Take ownership in the assigned areas of work (Safety, Maintenance Crew, Assigned Plants, Quality of Work)

  • Treat the maintenance team and all others with Respect

  • Strive to grow as a leader

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 2-3 years of experience in maintenance and repair of process equipment and piping systems.

  • Understands/Demonstrates safe work practices for chemical plant maintenance and Albemarle safe work policies (leads by example and follows up on concerns proactively)

  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude with commitment to accurate repairs per procedures, design, and company standards

  • Good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills

  • Motivated and self-directed toward goals of cost reduction and service factor improvement

  • SAP planning knowledge (PM plans, WO tracking, cost tracking, scheduling)

  • Proactive approach to preventive maintenance

  • Leadership skills to assist Maintenance Supervisor with developing people (performance reviews, management by objectives)

  • Must have the ability to direct a team, solicit input, follow up on poor performers with Maintenance Supervisor

  • Magnolia site employees should be aware of both the Albemarle Magnolia Site Quality Policy and the Albemarle Magnolia Site Quality Objectives plus understand how their role contributes to each. Employees are required to follow and support the requirements of our quality management system which is available on the ISO Sync site and can be accessed through Albert by all site workers.
