Job Description

AECOM’s Interior Design + Strategy Studio is growing, and we are hiring a Senior Interior Designer to join our talented team of Designers, Workplace Strategists, Change Makers and Design Thinkers. Our team is recognized for designing environments for clients across all market sectors and for bringing a new approach to traditional challenges; combining forward-thinking creativity with experience and best practices to bring the most appropriate and innovative ideas to each client. We put evidence-based design and User Experience (UX) at the center of our projects, which range from large headquarters to small specialty and amenity spaces.

The position requires a high level of design skills and creativity. The candidate is expected to be able to lead the design aspect of projects and to manage medium to large hospitality and/or commercial office Interior Design projects. These will be some of the duties:

  • To take full responsibility for the development of the design process and deliverables, and liaise with internal and external design team, contractor and sub-contractors.

  • Prepare the design project, brief writing and understanding of project deliverables/ goals and client aspirations.

  • To prepare and develop with the team where required, creative content, images, material & mood boards and other documents relating to RFP/ Bidding documents.

  • To create and drive excellent content for clients with high level Director support.

  • To seek out innovation and best practice across all areas of the role – brings new ideas and creative thinking to client's work as well as across the internal AECOM Design team.

  • To write design proposals with Director support, clear narrative, strong description of services and associated modelling of fees.

  • To seek continuing professional development thorough knowledge of and compliance with AECOM procedures and standards.

  • Prepare FFE sourcing and procurement.

  • Prepare tender and contract/construction information.

  • If needed, to deal with junior designers team's management.

Qualifications

We are looking to hire a professional with almost 10 years of experience in a similar role (preferably experience in the hospitality sector or commercial office Interior Design projects.

  • High level of design skills and creativity.

  • Able to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion.

  • Previous experience integrating design requirements with architecture.

  • Motivated to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project.

  • Strong Knowledge of design trends and market influences.

  • Proven Strategic/ Design thinking and space planning abilities.

  • Proficient in /REVIT/Sketch Up/Enscape.

  • Proficient in In-Design / PhotoShop / Microsoft Office software/ other project delivery software.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to convey complex ideas and messages in a simple and clear way.

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills

  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.

  • Flexible and open attitude towards ways of working and commitment to independent, lifelong learning.

  • Responsible, self-assured, motivated and able to take responsibility.

  • Willingness to listen and learn from all members of the team.

  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team.

  • Exceptional in stakeholders' management at all levels, internally and externally.

  • Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritize duties and work effectively under pressure.
