JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine seeks applicants for a position as a Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor in Small Animal Soft-Tissue and Oncologic Surgery. This position is open to surgeons wanting to focus on both soft-tissue and oncologic surgery or exclusively oncologic surgery. The successful candidate will make up a team of four surgeons providing soft-tissue and oncologic surgical care to patients within the UW Veterinary Care hospital. Teaching is the major responsibility of this position and individuals in the Teaching Professor Track at UW-Madison are involved in independent classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction as well as community and educational outreach efforts specific to their academic or clinical discipline. In addition, instructional design and development or enhancement of academic content using instructional technology, participation in curriculum development and other activities related to teaching, dissemination of teaching methods, and practice of the clinical disciplines of veterinary soft-tissue and oncologic surgery are expected. Duties include, but are not limited to: CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES 60% 1. 24-28 weeks of clinical coverage and teaching 2. Training and supervision of residents and interns 3. Clinical teaching of 4th year veterinary students NON-CLINICAL TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES 30% 1. Didactic teaching 2. Laboratory course teaching SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES 10% 1. Involvement in committees at the department, school, university, and professional organization levels 2.
