JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Scientist that will join a burgeoning field of research and will contribute to developing novel immune-based therapies for pediatric cancers in the lab of Dr. Rebecca Richards, MD, PhD, located in the Wisconsin Institute of Medical Research (WIMR). Projects will involve using murine models of acute myeloid leukemia and other malignancies to develop adoptive cell-based therapies for cancer. In addition, the candidate may work with murine and human tumors to identify tumor-associated antigens that would be optimal targets for tumor immunotherapy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the direction of research projects given past experience. They will manage the laboratory, order and maintain reagents, laboratory equipment, and help to schedule service/repairs when necessary. Anticipated laboratory techniques will include, but are not limited to, T cell transduction, ELISA, multicolor flow cytometry, molecular biology techniques such as PCR and in-fusion cloning, and cytotoxicity assays. The candidate will maintain mammalian cell cultures and tumor cell lines. They will meet weekly with Dr. Richards to review ongoing projects and analyze data but the applicant will be expected to possess scientific curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and independence. The applicant will be required to maintain detailed records of experiments and commit to scientific integrity. The candidate should expect to contribute data analysis to abstracts and publications emerging from the lab, and there will be opportunities to contribute to present work at conferences, take the lead on manuscript preparation, and contribute to grant applications.
