JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking applicants for a faculty member in the area of superconducting qubits, beginning Fall 2024 at the rank of Full Professor. The UW-Madison has highly ranked research programs in condensed matter physics. The Physics Department seeks outstanding candidates with expertise in experimental condensed matter physics who have an established experimental research program in quantum physics. Candidates must have an outstanding portfolio of research accomplishments and Ph.D. student mentoring as well as a proven track record of innovation and high-impact research and teaching. Candidates will have a track record of patenting inventions in quantum science and technology. Candidates will demonstrate expertise in the characterization of superconducting qubits, including publications in high-impact-factor scholarly journals. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues in experimental and theoretical condensed matter research programs in the Department and broader UW-Madison quantum science community. The successful candidate will contribute to an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community. Responsibilities: The candidate will be expected to perform teaching at all levels. Undergraduate and graduate classroom and individual instruction as well as supervision of graduate thesis research are required.
