JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Gender and Women\'s Studies is searching for a distinguished scholar of women, gender, or sexuality who will serve as the Department\'s chair for five years. Field of scholarly expertise is open. Scholars who complement current strengths of the department and who might lead the department into new fields are equally welcome to apply. New fields of particular interest include feminist science studies, economics, data science, geography, education, transnational and Indigenous feminisms, and international relations. The successful candidate will advance the educational mission of the College of Letters & Science, that values, prioritizes, and actualizes evidence-based and student-centered teaching and (undergraduate student) mentoring. They will contribute to an environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community. Responsibilities: As a member of the faculty within UW-Madison, the successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate students, conduct research, and perform department, university, and community service. The successful candidate will serve as chair for five years, teach a reduced course load (1:0) for the duration of their administrative position, and maintain a research program. After 5 years, they will return to the faculty (and assume a 2:2 teaching load). The Department has experienced significant and exciting growth in the past few years, hiring stellar new faculty across a wide range of disciplines. This means that roughly half of our 20 faculty are untenured. In our nearly 50 years as a program and a department, we have a 100% record of granting tenure to our faculty, and we take great pride in effectively mentoring and supporting our junior faculty through the tenure process.
