Job Description

Applies practical clinical experience when evaluating and interpreting scientific literature and other evidence.
Maintains a high degree of job knowledge and subject matter expertise via review of the medical and healthcare information technology literature and other activities as assigned. Actively develops and/or maintains clinical expertise with the express purpose of translating this expertise into improving clinical content. Continually develops and refines knowledge of database, clinical decision support applications, and rules-based logic.
Assesses and mitigates risks of drug therapy and clinical decision support based on knowledge of pharmacotherapy as well as disease/condition and patient-specific variables.
Responsible for performing ongoing clinical data analysis and quality control activities related to proprietary drug content and clinical decision support software
Identifies, documents, and reports omissions or errors in the data. Identifies, documents, and reports unexpected results generated by clinical decision support software.
Submits work for collaborative peer review and responds appropriately to comments and criticisms. As a member of the team, critically, professionally, and thoroughly reviews the work of others to prompt improvements in clarity, consistency, accuracy, and accessibility to information across the spectrum of healthcare providers. Understands the use of the data by customers and factors this awareness into decisions.
Anticipates problems or issues and identifies creative ways to solve problems or mitigate risks.
Applies clinical knowledge and expertise to develop, implement, and adhere to policies. Clearly articulates WKH policies, processes.
Achieves productivity by consistently meeting deadlines by meeting departmental and individual goals.
Maintains a high degree of currency in area(s) of clinical or domain expertise as well as industry knowledge via reading, attendance at professional meetings/educational conferences, and other activities (i.e. clinical practice, teaching, research, discussions, etc.). Develops and maintains professional, specialty, and/or academic relationships
Shares information and expertise with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Acts as an influential leader within the organization. Provides assistance and cross-education among clinical team/content members, and functional teams (e.g., sales, marketing, accounting, IT).
Lends subject matter expertise and actively participates in the process of new product development or enhancements. Provides input for product design from a clinical perspective. Participates in the design and enhancement of tools used to manage content. Responds promptly to marketing and sales feedback (when appropriate) to introduce new information and/or concepts into the database.
Provides a high level of customer service by offering customer and client support on an as needed basis, as well as responds in a timely and accurate manner to queries regarding clinical content issues or expected data outcomes. Understands the needs and expectations of the assessment and validation of client problem. Ensures quality responses (written, verbal) to customer inquiries. Works with other departments and authors to improve data/products and their appeal to selected segments of the market as requested.
Applies clinical knowledge and expertise during development cycle to collaboratively create, maintain, and document testing scenarios.
May participate and assist in the training of pharmacy students and residents.
May professionally represent WKH on a national level.
May be required to develop and maintain strong relationships with authors, contributors, editors and consultants. Cultivate and maintain relationships with individuals in specialty areas that can help improve content. Effectively facilitates obtaining consultant input by monitoring workflow and ensuring consultant responsiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
PharmD or ,
BSPharm with significant clinical practice experience or specialization or,
Other advanced clinical degree
Experience:
Pharmacist
A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience (Note: exceptions may be made for candidates with unique skill sets such as drug information, clinical informatics, etc.)
Pharmacy practice or clinical residency and/or board certification in pharmacotherapy or a specific sub-specialty (preferred)
A minimum of 3 years of experience in the implementation and/or analysis of Clinical Decision Support data and applications or clinical informatics (required)
Other Advanced Clinical Degree
A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience involving medication ordering, administering, or related activities with medications (Note: exceptions may be made for candidates with unique skill sets such as drug information, clinical informatics, etc.)
A minimum of 3 years of experience in the implementation and/or analysis of Clinical Decision Support data and applications or clinical informatics (required)
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Pharmacy License in good standing from any U.S. State (for pharmacists)
Extensive knowledge of clinical/content area of responsibility
Advanced literature evaluation skills and/or advanced data analytic and clinical decision support skills (preferred)
Ability to make independent decisions
Strong critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
Proficiency in written, verbal communication skills
Computer literacy in word processing (required), spreadsheet use (required), relational database use (preferred)
Experience and proficiency with SQL (preferred)
Experience with ontologies and standardized vocabularies such as RxNorm, SNOMED CT, ICD10, LOINC
Certification or fellowship in clinical informatics, or prior experience collaborating with informatics teams
Experience with leading or collaborating on quality-focused standards, best practices, processes, and policies (preferred)
Familiarity with CDS Hooks, SMART and FHIR standards (preferred)
Compensation:
Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $132,500-$187,550
