Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, genetics, neurobiology, biotechnology, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

A minimum of one (1) year of laboratory experience or equivalent level of skill is required. Undergraduate research experience is acceptable. Experience with mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques, such as DNA cloning, quantitative PCR, western blotting, and protein purification are desired.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required. Successful applicants should be able to work independently and as part of a team, learn new techniques quickly and easily, and should be able to apply critical thinking to daily tasks.

Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID) is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. By bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and a broad of array of disciplines, we seek to foster unlikely collaborations, catalyze new ways of thinking, and generate unexpected scientific discoveries.

Located at WID, the Denu Lab is interested in the interplay of metabolism and epigenetics, including how gut bacterial metabolism affects brain health. This position provides support for this important research as a key member of our team.
