JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Zhao laboratory focuses on translating high-throughput molecular data into biological insights and clinical biomarkers for cancer. We primarily generate and analyze NGS data from cancer samples. You will be responsible for designing and executing complex integrated computational research projects. This will include creating and maintaining computational pipelines for a wide variety of NGS data, as well as downstream analysis. You will also work closely with lab members on a variety of exciting and high-impact projects and will have the freedom and autonomy to lead independent research projects. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a multi-disciplinary group of collaborators including clinicians, laboratory scientists, bio-informaticians, and bio-statisticians from around the country to grow your network and skillset. Responsibilities: Provides technical expertise to fundamental and/or applied scientific research under the direction of senior research personnel or faculty. 60% Collects and analyzes basic research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures 15% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities and assists with publications 5% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area 10% Assists with the development of research methodologies and procedures 5% Identifies concerns and recommends solutions to leadership 5% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
