JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) seeks a dynamic, service-oriented professional to serve as its next associate vice chancellor and chief of police (AVC/Chief). The AVC/Chief is a high-profile, sworn law enforcement officer who works closely with staff, students, faculty, administrators, and the local community to manage and administer services and programs contributing to a safe and secure campus environment. Reporting to the vice chancellor for finance and administration (VCFA), the AVC/Chief develops and implements strategic organizational objectives for all departmental services and programs; collaborates with UW-Madison senior leadership in response to university crises; ensures that the department meets its operational and financial goals, and is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, university policies, and certification requirements; and supports the goals and mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The AVC/Chief is responsible for setting goals, providing ongoing feedback, appraising performance, and ensuring professional development opportunities for a high-functioning staff of 145, including four direct reports. Directs all police functions, operations, and strategy to ensure safety and security on all institutional properties.
