Summary This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER - Title 32, Position Description Number D1867000 and is part of the WI 115 OSS, Wisconsin Air National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER - Title 32, WG-4818-10, you will provide diagnostic, analytical, calibration, investigative research, troubleshooting, in-depth inspections, quality control inspections, certification, testing, evaluation, and maintenance or overhaul of all Aircrew Flight Equipment and aircrew chemical defense equipment. Provides formal academic classroom and technical instruction to all pilots/aircrew on all initial and continuation instruction to ensure aircrew survival ability under peacetime or combat operations. Responds and participates as an Air Force aircraft mishap board representative in investigating flight support equipment failures/malfunctions associated with mishaps. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E-1 through E-5 *AFSC: Any, Trainees accepted Conditions of Employment: - Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. - National Guard Membership is required. - Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. - Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. - May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. - The position requires the incumbent attend water and land survival schools, the Life Support instructor course, and the aircraft accident reporting course. - Required to acquire and maintain a secret security clearance. - Must be able to obtain materials handling license(s) for equipment utilized in the assignment. - Must be certified and remain current in Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA). Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the WG-4848-10 level, applicant must have at least 18 months experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential.
