Robert Half Staff Accountant in Macy, Nebraska

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the local government sector. The role is based in Macy, Nebraska, 68039, United States. As a Staff Accountant, your main focus will be on maintaining financial records related to assigned grants. You will be expected to assist with budget input, review general ledger transactions, and perform bank reconciliations, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with budget input for assigned grants

• Review general ledger transactions, including revenue recognition and earned and unearned revenue maintenance

• Perform bank reconciliation activities

• Calculate carry forward amounts and conduct budget analysis

• Update and manage the Project Tracking System database for federal awards

• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for federal awards

• Conduct quarterly reconciliation and analysis of accounts receivables and assigned balance sheet accounts

• Identify, calculate, and determine excess interest earned on awards with advanced fund disbursements

• Provide financial reporting support to the Administration as required

• Prepare and input journal entries related to assigned grants

This role requires skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes

• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Strong knowledge of General Ledger maintenance and management

• Proven ability to record Journal Entries accurately

• Proficiency in handling Month End Close tasks

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Previous experience in a Local Government setting is a plus

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
