Job Summary:

The Continuous Improvement Facilitator is a rotational assignment for employees to develop CBS (Crane Business System) acumen and leadership skills while supporting critical continuous improvement activities for the site. This position enhances our ability to support CBS activities for our large and complex business while creating a pipeline of experienced lean practitioners to fill pivotal roles in the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • CBS Tool Mastery: Develop a robust understanding of the Crane Business System tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Transactional Process Improvement, Material Replenishment, Standard Work for Flow, and Problem Solving

  • Drive CBS Projects: Serve as project leader or support for cross functional Projects, Just-Do-It and Kaizen events; Work with value stream and functional managers to assist in roadmap execution to drive strategic business priorities and continuous improvement

  • KPI’s: Support the effective application of Key Performance Indicator tools across the site; Assist with daily problem-solving identification and closure as identified on the KPI’s

  • Kaizen Events: Participate and support kaizen events across the site driving pre-work and follow up action closure

  • 5S: Drive CBS 5S standards across the site through auditing and mentoring all functions

  • Personal Development: Develop effective facilitation skills to execute Crane Kaizen events that deliver sustained breakthrough results.

  • CBS Administration: Assist the CBS Manager with responsibilities such as project improvement tracking, and SharePoint administration as required to support site needs

  • Rotation: After 12-18 months, rotate into another job assignment where the CBS knowledge acquired can be applied to support business needs (i.e. Production Supervisor or CBS Manager)

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1+ years at Crane in a direct operations support role with demonstrated success and self-motivation for driving continuous improvement; OR for new hires, 2+ internships in related fields, and consistent leadership roles with confirmed success driving continuous improvement

  • Knowledge: Understanding of business processes in operations and supply chain, structured continuous improvement events, and basic project management techniques

  • Skills/Abilities: Strong project management and organizational skills; Excellent oral and written communication skills, to include presentation skills and facilitation of groups toward deliverables; Adept at business productivity tools including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and Visio; Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional project teams; Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement as measured by business impact

  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or acquired before rotating into a Supervisor or Manager role.

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

  • Standard office environment

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • Assignment rotation of 12-18 months

  • Standing: 10%

  • Sitting: 90%

  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 20 pounds

  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 20 pounds

  • Mental/Visual: use of computer

  • Workspace (line, cube, etc): cubicle/desk

Top Benefits:

Salary range: $76,100 to $117,500. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
