BWXT is currently seeking an IT Application Architect for its Lynchburg, VA location or remote!

The IT Application Architect plays a key role in designing and implementing solutions to streamline BWXT business processes and enhance overall efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of IT business system architecture, ERP systems, and business processes. The individual must be able to work across a broad spectrum of application domains in order to trouble shoot and drive detailed project tasks as well as coordinate the application strategy across the organization.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable system designs.

  • Designs and implements architecture solutions that align with the BWXT’s overall IT strategy.

  • Evaluates and selects appropriate technologies, related products, and platforms based on organizational needs and industry best practices.

  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and assesses their applicability to enhance capabilities.

  • Develops strategies for seamless integration and interoperability of systems with existing enterprise and local applications and infrastructure.

  • Designs data architectures both on premises and in the cloud to support efficient data management within the systems and integrations.

  • Defines data migration strategies and ensures data integrity across the platforms.

  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and system administrators, to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of ERP solutions.

  • Identifies and addresses performance bottlenecks within the systems through continuous monitoring and optimization efforts.

  • Implements robust security measures to safeguard data and ensures compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Stays informed about industry security standards and applies them to ERP architecture.

  • Maintains high quality and comprehensive documentation for architecture, configurations, and processes.

  • Provides training and support for IT teams and end-users as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant field.

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience as an Application Architect with a strong background in IT business system architecture.

  • In-depth knowledge of SAP ERP systems, modules, and associated technologies.

  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ERP (SAP), HCM, and MES systems preferred .

  • Prior experience with application deployment/upgrade projects.

  • Prior experience with U.S. Government DOE/DOD data protection is a plus.

Pay: $92,000 - $142,000

The base salary range for this position in VA at the start of employment is expected to be between $92,000 and $142,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
