Are you ready to apply your risk expertise to Amazon's unique environment? We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated expertise in accelerating an organization's Risk Management program, using leading standards such as COSO ERM. This person will play a key role in building out new risk management capabilities across Amazon’s different organizations. The Risk Manager will plan, do, check, and action risk management frameworks, to include a repeatable advisory services framework with milestones and deliverables, a broad range of risk appetite statements, risk assessments, escalation, and mitigation strategies across a diverse group of partners and risk disciplines. You will play a vital role in ensuring that Amazon complies with local and global legal and compliance requirements and maintaining Amazon as being the place for a trusted shopping experience. You will join a team that partners across the organization to shape the future of Amazon’s evolving risk and compliance programs and where we value ownership, insight, intellectual flexibility, and sound business judgment.

Key job responsibilities

• Coach non-risk professionals on key elements of Risk Management best practices.

• Manage several projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency.

• Articulate the three lines of risk management model and help define ownership roles and responsibilities

• Advise on the development of risk appetites and tolerances and KRIs across a wide range of businesses and operations.

• Facilitate development of risk management policies, procedures, and other governance documents, as necessary.

• Pivot to quickly understand different business processes, regulations, and controls, and work with partners on identification of controls and risks and appropriate data sources and elements which contribute to risk-based assessments.

• Facilitate detailed, data driven narratives to inform leadership/Board members of risk levels, mitigations, and impacts.

A day in the life

You will use your experience working with businesses and working autonomously to meet with external customers, give advice and feedback on application of risk management, draft documents, schedule meetings and workshops, provide feedback, meet with internal risk team, create reports, meet with senior leadership, oversee the work of others who are supporting this initiative, determine workloads.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • Experience in compliance, audit or risk management

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Ability to manage and analyze data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent

  • Payments controls, modern transactions processing in a financial institution.

  • Experience in global risk programs addressing multiple regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated track record of taking ownership and driving results.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, technical environment

  • Risk Management certification or equivalent
