Amazon is currently looking for a proactive and result oriented Senior Financial Analyst to become a major contributor to our Accounting team based in Luxembourg and to focus on financial reporting and compliance. The role has responsibility for aspects of the controllership and accounting function in support of the EMEA operations. The accounting flows are operated in multiple legal entities with involvement of a number of stakeholders in different locations. In addition to the accounting and reporting responsibilities, the individual will drive cross-border projects and develop best practice in processes and controllership on an international level, with an emphasis on utilizing new technology and developing subject matter expertise in this area.

The candidate will be an experienced accounting professional, who consistently exceeds expectations, and thrives in a challenging workplace environment. Candidate experience should cover accounting & financial reporting processes and related analytical analysis.

This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.

Key job responsibilities

• Preparation of high-quality financial statements across a range of accounting frameworks;

• Preparation of various deliverables to support both internal and external financial reporting needs, including identification and posting of local GAAP adjustments and the preparation of analytic commentary for management and other stakeholders;

• Supporting external audits;

• Leading certain month end close activities, ensuring that relevant deadlines are met.

• Driving process improvement and automation to reduce manual effort;

• Demonstrating strong technical accounting acumen to be able to conclude on accounting treatment of new product launches, projects and transactions.

• Business partnering with various cross-functional stakeholders to maintain efficient and compliant accounting and reporting processes, and effective controls

• Collaborating with global Accounting teams to identify opportunities for enhanced standardization

• Champion key accounting initiatives and goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • Relevant experience with accounting and financial reporting, preferably gained within a Big Four firm and / or a multinational organization

  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English

  • Proficient Microsoft Excel user

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working experience with IFRS or other accounting frameworks;

  • Certified accountant qualification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent)

  • Solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing schedules

  • Excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to leadership

  • Passion to continuously enhance processes and reduce manual efforts through automation or optimization initiatives.
