What does Success Look Like?

  • Working closely with all key stakeholders to provide a sound, ethical and prompt legal service and advice.

  • Providing advice related to internal employment-related investigations work, and in consultation with Legal, Compliance, Information Security and/or other internal partners as applicable, and advising the investigation team how to document and communicate findings of fact from investigations to relevant stakeholders.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of developments in employment laws across the EMEA region and APAC.

  • Directing and overseeing employment litigation matters, as required, including managing outside counsel and associated budgets.

  • Conducting manager and human resources training on employment legal issues.

  • Providing support for other corporate legal functions on an as-needed basis, including global employee benefits matters, business ethics officer investigations, competition law matters, privacy matters and M&A/governance/integration support.

  • Managing employment law aspects of mergers & acquisitions and multi-jurisdictional projects as required.

About You

  • You are an experienced and qualified employment lawyer with excellent academic credentials and a professional bar membership or legal practicing certificate which is in good standing in at least one country where PayPal does business.

  • You will have particular experience of and interest in overseeing employment-related investigations.

  • You will have at least several years of post-qualification experience in the field of employment law gained in the EMEA region, with strong private practice experience being essential and some prior in-house experience being beneficial but not required.

  • You will have excellent judgment and an ability to evaluate and advise on legal risks within a commercial business context.

  • You will have the ability to develop and build relationships of trust within a complex business environment and across multiple geographies.

  • You will have strong attention to detail and an ability to move the business priorities forward.

  • You have willingness to learn a variety of new skills and broaden current functional expertise.

  • You are team-oriented, with a great sense of humour, sound judgment and high tolerance for ambiguity while working in an extremely fast-paced, busy, environment in a cutting-edge industry.
