The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, Minnesota Veterans Home-Luverne has an opening for a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor. This position assists the Nursing Management team by providing clinical expertise and supervisory guidance to the Nursing Department to ensure quality delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

  • Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License with no restrictions. NOTE: If you are not currently licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, you must be able to obtain licensure by date of hire. You will be asked to provide documentation of your license at the time of interview or prior to hire.

  • Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including one year of experience leading other nursing staff as a charge/lead nurse. A Bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of the RN experience requirement. A Master's degree in nursing may substitute for 18 months of the RN experience requirement.

  • Communication skills sufficient to convey information in formal, informal, group, and one-on-one capacities.

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Human relations and leadership skills sufficient to effectively direct, guide, influence and supervise a nursing department staff.

  • Communication skills sufficient to communicate effectively with other and prepare and present information to various individuals and groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising other nursing staff and performing supervisory responsibilities, such as hiring and employee performance management.

  • Experience leading other nursing staff as a charge/lead nurse.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in nursing.

  • Experience with Quality Assurance Performance improvement processes.

  • Experience using a clinical software documentation system.

  • Experience with behavioral management.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing facilities and state survey.

Additional Requirements

This position also requires successful completion of the following:

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on finalist(s) for this position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.

  • A Tuberculosis (mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.

  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
