Community Health Systems Pharmacy Tech Lead in LUFKIN, Texas

Job Summary

The Lead Pharmacy Technician will oversee pharmacy operations, providing guidance and support to pharmacy technicians and assisting pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications. This role is vital for maintaining efficient workflows, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing the overall quality of pharmaceutical care.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and coordinate the activities of pharmacy technicians, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.

  • Assists pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and verification of medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounding.

  • Manages inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and restocking medications and supplies in compliance with hospital protocols.

  • Trains, mentors, and evaluates pharmacy technicians, promoting professional development and best practices.

  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as Joint Commission standards, through regular audits and quality control measures.

  • Collaborates with the pharmacy team and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication management and improve patient outcomes.

  • Provides exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare staff, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

  • Participates in departmental projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance pharmacy services.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Other Completion of Certified Pharmacy Technician program (CPhT) required

  • 3-5 years experience in Hospital Pharmacy required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication dispensing, and regulatory standards.

  • Demonstrates computer skills, calculations, arithmetic, English, and grammar

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficient in pharmacy software and technology.

Licenses and Certifications

  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech State Pharmacy Technician Registration/Licensure required

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification required

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Certification preferred
