Salary:$32,000 - $40,000

Primary Objectives of Position:The Business Engagement Representative is responsible for the coordination of connecting employers in the Deep East Texas region with the services in the American Job Center. They are responsible for business outreach, marketing of services, connecting employers with candidates and working closely with Career Navigators to place participants in interested worksites. The Business Engagement Representative is an individual contributor on a team that is expected to meet/exceed performance objectives under the contract and ensure compliance with client, state and federal policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Outreach and market to businesses the services available through Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas (WSDET).
  • Assess employer needs for job openings and convey to candidates and staff.
  • Recruit for job fairs, obtain new services, and service existing employers.
  • Work closely with Employment Services, Career Navigators and Employment Ready Specialists to ensure we serve both the employer's needs and the job seeker's needs for employment.
  • Initiates and maintains ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies.
  • Participates in community and interagency events to foster networking and public relation opportunities.
  • Explains benefits and employment support services provided by Workforce Solutions to employers, including work experience opportunities.
  • Develop work-based learning agreements with businesses, agencies, and local employers for program participants' placement.
  • Collects data from employers related to job orders including job requirements and skills.
  • Maintains follow-up contact with employers to determine satisfaction with services and plan for quality improvement.
  • Manage outreach efforts and interactions with businesses and community partners using various means including electronic, telephonic and face-to-face.
  • Plan and execute recruiting and hiring events for employers in all industries and diverse job seekers.
  • Provides job search/career information workshops and presentations.
  • Provides labor market and community resource information.
  • Utilize Extreme Customer Service behaviors with all interactions with internal and external customers.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:Physical requirements include carrying/lifting to 5 pounds, frequently; up to 10 pounds, regularly; and up to 25 pounds, occasionally. Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to drive an automobile and operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment; subject to carrying, lifting, twisting, and reaching to perform essential job functions. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations, frequent standing and walking.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.

Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in staffing, recruiting or workforce development with at least one year's experience working with computer systems for data entry and data review.

Demonstrated ability to problem solve. Perform additional tasks as required. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work with a diverse population on a daily basis

Additional Requirements:Must have valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
