We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Maintenance Supervisor with our Calcium Chloride plant located in Ludington, Michigan.

Primary Function

This position’s primary job function is to manage Oxy and contract maintenance personnel by setting direction and priorities to ensure that the work is carried out safely and in the most efficient way for the Ludington site.  This position is eligible for the Alternative Work Schedule.

Essential Functions

 

Functions that must be performed in order to fulfill Primary Function stated above include:

·         Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.

·         Set priorities on maintenance activities to assure continuing plant operations with minimum downtime while maintaining responsibility for Key Maintenance Measures (work processes, compliance tasks, training, overtime, downtime, call-ins, backlog, etc.)

·         Coordinate with Production, Engineering and other Maintenance groups to ensure accurate and efficient completion of maintenance activities.

·         Assign jobs and provide field supervision to maintenance technicians and contractors on daily work activities as well as plant outages through the Routine Maintenance Work Process.

·         Evaluate and assure material requisitions, work plans, and schedules are being utilized as planned.

·         Supervise maintenance activities in the plant, to ensure that all equipment is maintained and operating properly to meet reliability targets and production schedules. 

·         Participate in the design and implementation of equipment and process improvements, material of construction improvements and efficiency, and cost control improvements.

·         Provide leadership, direction, and motivation through effective interpersonal and communication skills to maintain a positive and productive environment.  Responsible for the productivity and morale of the work group.

·         Evaluates employee performance and conducts annual performance reviews.

·         Available for maintenance on-call and plant contact for emergency work.

·         Ensures technicians have required skills, training, and certifications to perform the required work.

·         Organize the flow of communication between Operations, Engineers, technicians, etc. keeping all necessary parties informed to meet the business needs.

·         Supports in the development of procedures with maintenance team for new or existing equipment or processes.

·         Check if all the work for the job is done including the paperwork.  Verifies that appropriate codes have been updated, and that job history has been added.

·         Actively support and participate on teams or in programs to continuously improve plant operations.

·         Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications

Education/Certification Requirements

Pre-employment Requirement

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred with a minimum 2-3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

·         May waive the Bachelor’s degree requirement with 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment which includes a good working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques, and safeguards in respective discipline for maintenance and construction.

·         Strong understanding of plant and maintenance processes.

·         Extensive knowledge of Crafts, Maintenance Engineering, and Human Resources capabilities.

·         Strong interpersonal / communication and team building skills. 

·         Previous experience with Health and Safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment, ideally a chemical facility.

·         Knowledge of and ability to operate basic computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-point, and Outlook.

·         Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.

·         Experience in a union environment a plus.
