Position Description:

Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Oversees and/or performs the design, automation, and deployment of cybersecurity applications and infrastructure program activities.

  • Proactively seeks out weaknesses and stealthy attackers, conducting penetration tests, and reviewing vulnerability assessments.

  • Identifies threats that have entered the network, and security gaps and vulnerabilities.

  • Works with Incident Response team to ensure isolation, analysis, and containment of an incident.

  • Supervises staff and student interns working in the Regional Security Operations Center.

  • Gives briefings and presentations to leadership and external partners.

  • Helps develop and execute the vision for the RSOC.

  • Assists in recruiting and onboarding new team members.

  • Writes technical reports on the operation and results of the RSOC.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, M.I.S., or related field. Possesses an industry certification including Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate, EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst (CSA), EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC or other recognized credential.
