Job Summary:
The position is critical role responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's information assets and has extensive knowledge of information security, sets the overall direction for informational security systems, and protects company information systems and assets by analyzing security events and testing systems to prevent potential threats. This position involves proactive threat detection, incident response, security tool management, and continuous improvement of security operations processes. The Senior Security Engineer will leverage their deep technical expertise to analyze security events, identify vulnerabilities, make recommendations for technology purchases and architectural changes, and implement effective security controls. They will serve as subject matter experts, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall security posture.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Incident Response and Threat Analysis:
Study and interpret past security events and current security threats to improve security defenses; develop and implement new tools and processes based on findings.
Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) and other security tools to identify and analyze security events.
Lead incident response efforts, including containment, eradication, and recovery, following established procedures.
Conduct thorough post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Analyze malware and other malicious code to understand attack vectors and develop mitigation strategies.
Consult on information security best practices based on research and analysis of company technical initiatives in order to mitigate risk.
Security Tool Management and Optimization:
Oversee the evaluation and implementation of new security technology and toolsets to ensure optimal security posture.
Manage and maintain security tools, including SIEM and endpoint detection and response (EDR)
Configure and optimize security tools to improve detection capabilities and reduce false positives.
Evaluate and recommend new security technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.
Automate security tasks and processes using scripting and orchestration tools.
Design security models, reviews and approves security configuration and installation of firewall, VPN, routers, IDS scanning technologies, and servers.
Participate in the development of hardware/software/network security procedures and guidelines that support information security policies.
Security Monitoring and Reporting:
Communicate developing security threats associated with specific business-related data exchanges and connectivity to senior leadership.
Develop and maintain security dashboards and reports to provide visibility into security operations.
Monitor security logs and alerts to identify suspicious activity.Monitors industry security updates, technologies and best practices to improve security management.
Generate regular security reports for management and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
Influence direction for protecting the company's data assets by sharing security expertise with other technology departments.
Provide recommendations on mitigating or removing vulnerabilities within IT systems.
Collaboration and Mentorship:
Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to implement security best practices.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security engineers.
Oversee security awareness programs; educate and communicate information security policies, procedures, and practices to staffand promote a security-conscious culture.
Participate in tabletop exercises.
Documentation:
Create and maintain thorough documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
Document security tool configurations and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelors degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Networking, or a related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience and training
AND 6 years of experience in Security Operations or Information Technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Networking, or a related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience and training
AND 6 years of experience in Security Operations or Information Technology
AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
Strong understanding of security principles, protocols, and technologies
Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, vulnerability scanners, and other security tools
Experience with threat intelligence platforms
Experience with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation
Knowledge of network protocols and security architecture
Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or SANS certifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation:
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
