The Opportunity:

We have an opportunity for a Shift Supervisor to join our recycle team in Louisville, KY. The primary duties of the shift supervisor include:

• Oversee the processes and baling of incoming recycling materials so that outbound recycling materials are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills.

• Assign and oversee execution of production, safety, and housekeeping duties.

• Active participation in and encourage employee involvement in the Health and Safety Programs of WestRock.

Responsibilities

• Supervise production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures for the plant.

• Train and coach operators.

• Conduct employee performance counseling.

• Responsible for shift schedule to include: workstation assignments, rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and temporary labor.

• Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.

• Coordinate with Operations Manager for appropriate staffing levels.

• Schedule and conduct shift meetings.

• Responsible for meeting shift production goals.

• Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.

• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).

• Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Operations Manager.

• Ensure a clean and safe work area.

• Complete shift paperwork.

• Assist in production as necessary.

• Authorization Training in the following: Lock out Tag out, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Aerial, Loader, Bobcat, Forklift, and balers. (Will be trained in house)

• Maintain and aid to plant\u2019s preventative maintenance program.

• Other duties as assigned.

What you need:

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Knowledge of the recycling processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through two to five years of manufacturing experience.

• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

Working Conditions

• Working conditions include a non-climate controlled environment.

• Communication with diverse staff.

• Work involves lifting materials and product up to 45 pounds.

• Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
