Position Summary

SGS & Co is seeking an experienced Pricing Manager to join the Commercial Finance team, reporting to the Director of that group. The Commercial Finance team works closely with multiple internal departments to develop the strategy and pricing for new business opportunities and renewals and supports strategic corporate initiatives to maximize growth and profitability. The Commercial Finance team is located in Chicago, IL, and this role may be hybrid (2 days per week) in Chicago, IL or be remote within the Central or Eastern time zones.

This is a highly visible position that will play a key role in crafting pricing strategies and driving business results. The Pricing Manager will build financial models, support the global sales team to boost client profitability, and develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with business objectives and market conditions. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, possess an inquisitive mindset, and be driven by a dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of their work. Advanced analytical skills, strong financial acumen, and exceptional communication abilities are essential for success in this position.

Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Legal, etc.) to review opportunity, current contract, and financials, and put together a go-forward strategy to provide to the client.
  • Build financial models to evaluate the profitability of various proposal scenarios, including proper costing, pricing, and allocations.
  • Present sales opportunities to senior leadership, providing color on the strategy, economics, and contractual language, as well as providing recommendations.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide pricing strategies that align with business objectives, market conditions, and competitive landscape, and establish processes to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Develop pricing tools and identify areas for automation to improve efficiency and accuracy of Commercial Finance processes.
  • Ensure execution of the deal review and approval process and conduct post audits.
  • Oversee reviews of internal client-level data with Sales, Operations, IT, and Finance to understand trends and drivers of profitability, and provide data-driven recommendations to maximize profitability.
  • Manage and mentor pricing analyst. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values problem solving and a commitment to quality.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with various global teams including Finance, Commercial, Legal, and Operations.
  • Provide input on ongoing projects, perform ad hoc analyses, and support special projects as necessary and directed by senior management.

Competency Requirements

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills: Highly proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, etc.) and PowerPoint.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of pricing principals, specifically for service based and manufacturing models, as well as financial and accounting principles and practices.
  • Action-Oriented: Self-motivated, results-oriented, and resourceful; able to digest ambiguous tasks and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Analytical Mindset: Possesses an inquisitive mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to work with limited data.
  • Data Analysis and Synthesis: Proven experience working with and analyzing disparate data sets to generate easily understandable, compelling, and actionable recommendations.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels in a global, cross-functional organization; exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Problem-Solving and Multi-Tasking: Exceptional analytical and innovative problem-solving skills; effectively handles multiple tasks under tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams, collaborating effectively with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements

This position requires the following knowledge and skills:

  • BS in Finance, Economics, or Business - MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in a similar role (i.e., pricing, data analytics, corporate strategy, FP&A, etc.)

Education
Masters (preferred)
Bachelors (required)

Experience
6 years: Years of relevant work experience in a similar role (i.e., pricing, data analytics, corporate strategy, FP&A, etc.) (required)
