Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Louisville, Kentucky

Description We are offering an opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves working within our holding company that handles plumbers and electricians. The position requires the individual to be onsite from 8-5 and offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Handle full cycle payroll for 800-1000 employees

• Ensure accurate payroll tax computations and filings

• Oversee payroll for unionized workers and ensure compliance with union agreements

• Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer any payroll related inquiries from employees

• Interface with other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll-related regulations and best practices

• Generate reports for internal use and for compliance purposes

• Assist in the development and implementation of payroll procedures and policies

• Collaborate closely with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data

• Monitor changes in tax and deduction laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Requirements • A minimum of three years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a medium to large-sized organization.

• Proficiency in payroll software and other related systems.

• Strong understanding of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local regulations.

• Experience working with union payroll, understanding the unique requirements and regulations involved.

• Familiarity with full cycle payroll processes, including data entry, reconciliations, and report generation.

• Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.

• Any relevant payroll certifications, such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), would be an advantage.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify discrepancies or issues.

• A collaborative team player who can also work independently when required.

• Must be able to handle high volume of transactions efficiently and effectively.
