Overview

Provide training and education of clinical leadership and staff. Coordinate with Hospice Operation Leaders, field clinicians, and new hires to identify education needs. Along with subject matter experts, develop clinical education based on industry needs. Collaborate with the Clinical Education team on the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of clinical education programs and curriculums. Perform new hire and ongoing clinical education, and simulated lab education as needed, based on needs identified by the operation. Subject matter expert in the EMR/EHR application.

Responsibilities

  • Along with subject matter experts, develops on-boarding classes and simulation lab scenarios for new hires based on identified business and clinical needs.

  • Provides educational leadership to enhance specialized patient care within established, evidence-based clinical protocols and ensures clinician qualification and competency to provide care

  • Assists with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management across the continuum of care.

  • Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and Hospice management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.

  • Assists with clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical and preceptorship models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.

  • Able to develop patient care plans, incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards; consults with and serves as a clinical resource for operations to ensure quality patient care.

  • Educates technical and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.

  • Along with other educators/facilitators, provides classroom, virtual and self-study as well as simulation labs for new hires and for staff clinicians as indicated.

  • Evaluates efficacy of the formal classes and simulation classes to ensure they meet goals and drive results.

  • Determines with preceptors, Hospice Leaders, and branch leadership additional training needs of new hires and existing staff.

  • Collaborates with branch leadership in assessing, implementing, and evaluating clinician, new hire, and preceptor progress toward goals.

  • Facilitates preceptor forums for continued preceptor feedback, to provide mentoring and preceptor education.

  • Identifies concerns with new hires and staff clinicians; communicates these to Hospice Leadership, Lead preceptor, and branch leadership.

  • Acts as a positive role model or preceptor for team members new to home care and/or new BrightSpring HealthCare

  • Participates in clinical process improvement teams and benchmarking activities as assigned.

  • Participates in the development of program changes, including recommendations for obtaining more efficient outcomes; ensures follow through on practice changes.

  • Participates in select data collection as requested to track and trend program success, intervenes to affect a change in program content/delivery.

  • Demonstrates ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient care.

  • Functions within the Scope of Practice and the Practice Act.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Healthcare Related field from an accredited or approved school, Bachelors preferred

  • Five years of work-related experience in hospice or similar setting

  • Must have a valid clinical license from the state(s) in which he/she would be practicing

  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver’s license

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to present and educate effectively both remotely and in person to large or small groups

  • Proficient use of virtual / web communication platforms such as Webex, Teams, etc.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocols, procedures, and standards of care for hospice

  • Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula.

  • Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs.

  • Advanced clinical skills

  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs.

  • Ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects and meet set deadlines accordingly.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Solid ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interaction
