Minimum Requirements:High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Position Description:The Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) at the University of Louisville has an opening for a Financial Assistant III. This position is an integral part of pre-award financial management in the CTU. This position is responsible for:Preparing, reviewing, negotiating, tracking and processing clinical research budgets and payment terms for industry, foundation, federal, and federal-flow through clinical trials to ensure all impacted parties are aware and that their related costs are included in budgets, as determined by coverage analysis.Reviewing, understanding and applying regulations that govern clinical research, including governmental, UofL and affiliated healthcare provider policies and procedures.Advising faculty and staff on applicable regulations and policies as related to their clinical research.Training and mentoring financial assistant to prepare, review, negotiate, track and process clinical research budgets and payment terms. Participating in planning meetings and advise faculty, staff, Division Chiefs & Department Chairs as to the financial and operational impact of clinical trials in order to make decision to accept or reject a project.Completing Coverage Analysis (CA) for submission to the IRB of record and the facilities involved in clinical trials as needed to develop a compliant billing plan.Creating billing plan and maintain it to ensure compliance throughout the life of the project.Communicating directly with study sponsor representatives to negotiate and finalize clinical trial budgets.Submitting clinical trial documents to affiliated healthcare providers and contracting office.
