Job Summary and Qualifications

The Financial Aid Specialist will ensure accurate and timely administration of Title IV programs and effectively and efficiently balance competing priorities while doing so. Financial Aid Specialists usually have a concentration of one or more areas of specialty as shown below.

Position Responsibilities

Verification Specialist:

  • Thorough documentation in Ellucian Colleague regarding work performed on student accounts.

  • Thorough documentation and processing of workflows and document uploads within the OnBase document management system.

  • Perform ISIR corrections.

  • Perform verification reviews for all campuses.

  • Communicate with the Campus Financial Aid staff about missing items, additional items needed, etc. regarding any issues related to verification.

Withdrawal Specialist:

  • Thorough documentation in Ellucian Colleague regarding work performed on student accounts.

  • Thorough documentation and processing of workflows and document uploads within the OnBase document management system.

  • Perform all withdrawal calculations within federal guidelines.

Packaging Specialist:

  • Thorough documentation in Ellucian Colleague regarding work performed on student accounts.

  • Thorough documentation and processing of workflows and document uploads within the OnBase document management system.

  • Package the Title IV financial aid for new potential students and repacks for continuing students.

  • Communicate with the Campus Financial Aid staff and/or FA Specialist (Verification) about missing items, additional items needed, etc. regarding any issues which prevent packaging.

All :

  • Assign additional documents for students as needed.

  • Assist in other phases of financial aid as necessary.

  • Attend financial aid training, workshops and seminars as necessary.

Position Requirements

  • Education : Minimum high school diploma or GED, some college helpful.

  • Experience : Experience in using Microsoft systems such as Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Microsoft teams.

  • Special Qualifications : Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people. Position requires great attention to detail, time management skills, and willingness to be a team player. Ability to document all communications with students in Ellucian Colleague. The candidate must have the ability to enroll in and be granted access to all Department of Education websites, including but not limited to NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc. Only candidates with no history of prior student loan default will be considered.

  • Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment : Must be able to sit at a computer desk for eight hours each day.

  • Degree of Supervision: Minimal
