University of Louisville Cancer Control Specialist I in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in health administration, communications, public or business administration, or public health with at least 1 year of job experience. Grade 5 (Salaried)Position Description:Under the guidance of a Cancer Control Specialist Senior, this outreach position will assist with implementation of cancer control initiatives of the Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) in Metro Louisville and the Lincoln Trail District. Activities include cancer prevention and early detection programs; patient and family support services; information for health care providers; and partnerships to address local problems. Job responsibilities include regular communication with community groups, health care providers, social and faith-based organizations, and others for program implementation. This individual will also assist with health equity initiatives in Metro Louisville.Essential Duties:Assist with educational/outreach programs in Western Kentucky. Participate in cancer control coalitions/partnerships and establish working relationships with health care providers, the media, businesses, social groups, faith-based communities, and agencies; work with partners to provide linkages to patient and family support programs.Represent KCP at community events, health fairs, worksites, and other locations; compile educational materials for dissemination; and display educational exhibits.Work with KCP colleagues to design and create educational and promotional materials, both print and electronic, for use by colleagues throughout Western Kentucky; work with the KCP team to post information on social media.Enter program data in the statewide KCP reporting database for services delivered; maintain data base of mailing lists of community members, cancer survivors, and partners.Participate in statewide KCP meetings with colleagues at UofL to plan and implement cancer control initiatives; assist in developing KCP program plans in Western Kentucky.Identify and enter new resources and monitor existing community resources for the online KCP Pathfinder for Metro Louisville and Lincoln Trail.Assist with identifying and engaging stakeholder, community members, healthcare partners, medical providers, businesses, and others to serve as partners on projects including cancer screening campaigns.Work with community partners to implement health equity projects and foster community engagement with at-risk populations.Prepare and submit reports as requested.Assist KCP colleagues as requested on special projects and statewide cancer control initiatives.Preferred Qualifications:Must possess a driver’s license and can easily navigate towns/counties in Western Kentucky. Knowledge of the Kentucky Cancer Program; has an introductory understanding of cancer control; is familiar with health systems, businesses, non-profit groups, and others in local communities; and understands the public health needs in Western Kentucky.
