Our customer service team is the first impression our clients receive and are essential to our client’s entire journey. The CSR team is the start of where we build trust with clients so that VCA ASEC has the privilege of caring for pets in a time of need.

What this job entails...

Works with team to ensure the clients and patients are supported and cared for. Skills needed will be staff and client relations, communication, high emotional intelligence, and compassion for pets and people. Some responsibilities will be:

  • Efficiently and effectively greeting clients in person or over the phone

  • Answering telephones, texts, emails, WOOFware and Teams messages

  • Checking in patients, as well as scheduling and confirming appointments.

  • Presenting and explaining fees regarding treatment plans and invoicing.

  • Answering questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on medical vs non-medical pet care.

  • Offering clients alternate payment methods

  • Other patient and appointment functions:

  • Obtaining patient records for appointments.

  • Managing electronic medical records, reports and correspondences

  • Confirming appointments, medical records and electronic payments are received.

  • Demonstrate the desire to continue learning in veterinary administration with an emphasis on customer service.

  • Demonstrate quality decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action.

  • Acquire and maintain excellent listening and communication skills with those around you, including management, doctors, clients, and associates.

  • Attend webinars and other continuing education opportunities to acquire knowledge and new skills.

Experience / Education:

  • 3+ years of experience in client service

  • Previous experience in the medical field.

  • Experience in veterinary medicine, specialty medicine experience a plus

  • Compassion for pets and people

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage under pressure

  • Exceptional communication skills required

  • High emotional intelligence

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $18 to $20 per hour. Please note that positions can require flexible schedules, weekends, and some holidays.

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Los Angeles, CA 90025: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Customer service: 2 years (Preferred)
