UCLA Health Staff Research Associate I - Anesthesiology in Los Angeles, California

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Staff

Research Associate I (SRA 1) will have the following professional

responsibilities, including, but not limited to: Coordinating resource flow and

pediatric/adult human research studies, including recruitment, scheduling, and

data collection with the investigative team; Submitting and tracking subject

reimbursement for research study procedures according to UCLA protocols; Assisting

with clinical study IRB submissions/amendments and correspondence, human study

initiation and protocol implementation; Identifying and recruiting eligible

pediatric and adult patients for enrollment in research studies and coordinating

the process of obtaining informed consent; Administering cognitive assessments

and questionnaires to pediatric and adult subjects; Working with fund managers

for budget development and billing of studies; Assisting in MRI suite

preparation (preparing subject for MRI scanning and ensuring MRI safety

protocols are in place) before the data collection procedure; Maintaining

updated regulatory documents including HIPAA and IRB research certifications.

Please note that this is a full- time 18 month limited

position, and may convert to career .

Salary range: $26.52 - $31.63/Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of research study logistics including human subject recruitment and retention for research.

  • Demonstrated computer skill/abilities: excellent word-processing skills (including excellent ability with graphics), database management, fund management, and email.

  • Willingness to learn to support some study procedures (MRI scanning - position subject in the scanner, overnight polysomnography (sleep study) subject hookup and computerized data acquisition sequence for overnight polysomnography studies, etc.).

  • Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate research procedures and deadlines and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to concentrate and focus on tasks in a work environment that contains distracting stimuli.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills to effectively and diplomatically interact with patients, families, sponsors, co-workers, investigators, and others.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work and solve problems with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of University financial and travel policies and procedures.

  • Ability to organize multiple projects for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Use of discretion in confidential matters.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
