UCLA Health SQL Programmer - Anesthesiology in Los Angeles, California
Description
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Chief Data Architect for the Center of Excellence for Perioperative
Analytics, the SQL Programmer will provide database development and computational, technical, and analytical support for the
Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. You will be responsible for the development and
expansion of the departmental SQL based data warehouse including writing SQL queries, procedures and functions
necessary for its development, as well as maintaining the necessary documentation and data. You will assist with the high
level administration of that data warehouse, including representing the Department in meetings with other groups in the
Health System on expansions, working to insure Health System Compliance requirements are maintained, provisioning
database access to appropriate individuals, and other tasks as necessary. The SQL Programmer will also work with faculty and staff of the
Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine to define the data needed for pre-approved projects, and work with other members of the Division of Bioinformatics to assist with defining the scope of these requests and setting
overall priorities. You will create and maintain a database for a multi-center collaboration and work with other sites to
integrate the data and maintain data integrity.
Salary Range: $83800 - $179400/Annually
Qualifications
ALL REQUIRED:
BS/BA/MS/PhD in Computer Science and/or 2+ years programming experience in SQL and other languages, tools, and libraries.
Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work well in a results-oriented team environment and meet deadlines as needed.
Ability to develop reusable and modular code to be shared among development teams.
SSIS developer skills.
Programming experiences in multiple languages and tools, including C#, Python, TSQL, Reporting Services, Data Transformation Services and Integration services, Visual Studio, Adobe Acrobat, and XML, R.
Experience in application development, integration, and support across a variety of relational databases.
Proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL programming, Reporting Services, and SharePoint: design tables and indexes, design and deploy T-SQL queries, functions, store procedures, reports, and SharePoint sites.
Expertise in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and email communications and protocols and communication software.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills sufficient to write user manuals, make oral presentations, and train users.
Skills in setting priorities and time management, which accurately reflect the relative importance of the job.
Skills in negotiation - exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate procedures and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.
Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner under workload and deadline pressures.
Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with supervisor and co-workers.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision including ability to stay on task and seek appropriate guidance when necessary.
