Nexstar Media Group Reporter in Los Angeles, California

KTLA in Los Angeles, the #1 station in the nation's second-largest market is taking applications for Reporter. We're on the lookout for a candidate with the right combination of solid news judgment, a passion for storytelling and a solid background in news reporting with large market experience. The ideal candidate must be able to handle stories on all topics, especially breaking news; must generate story ideas; and display an on-air presence that is friendly and authoritative. The ideal candidate must be a credible and experienced news reporter who possesses strong editorial news judgment and has a proven record of collaboration and positive teamwork . Exceptional live skills are a must and previous anchoring experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Report on daily news assignments and contribute to daily enterprise content.

  • Collaborate with photographers, producers, management, and assignment desk to deliver top quality news reports.

  • Establish and maintain sources in the community, government and law enforcement

  • Support positive newsroom culture, collaborate and foster an environment of integrity.

  • Participate in community and promotional events Perform other duties as assigned

    Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ on-air experience in a large news market

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

  • Strong journalistic background, superior on-air presence, and excellent writing skills.

  • Ability to handle constructive criticism and perform under pressure.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings and weekends

  • Positive collaboration with colleagues and effective interaction with the public.

  • Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Candidates must have a solid resume reel showcasing professional on-camera anchoring and reporting.

  • Anchoring experience is preferred

    This position is covered under the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA.

    Compensation - $49.29/hr+ commensurate with experience and skill level
