    Position description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA currently seeks applicants for a physiatrist faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level (HS Clinical series) with focus and expertise in adult and pediatric neurological disorders.

The physiatrist will work with an interdisciplinary team including neurosurgeons, advanced practice providers (APP), and physical and occupational therapists. The physiatrist will hold clinics at one or more UCLA Health clinic locations and see inpatient consults. Clinics will also include performing and interpreting electrodiagnostic studies. The physiatrist should be familiar with examining and supporting the needs of chronic neurologic diseases. This entails initial and follow-up assessments of motor function and functional needs including the evaluation of pain, management of baclofen pumps, neuromuscular injections, assessment of wheelchair and orthotic modifications, and the management of medications. Furthermore, clinical and research expertise in the rehabilitation treatment of motor, sensory, and functional perturbations associated central and peripheral nervous system injury conditions are sought.

Qualifications:

The candidate must possess an outstanding record of clinical excellence, academic productivity, and a demonstrated commitment to education. Candidates must have an M.D. degree or equivalent, and eligibility for California medical licensure. Candidates must be board certified or eligible and have completed their fellowship training in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Compensation and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
