Job Description

An employer is looking for a Network Security Advisor (SME) to join one of their Oil and Gas customers in the Souther California region. Our client's projects are under detailed design by different subcontractors, but they have not yet provided well-defined network and cybersecurity specifications. Our client is seeking subject matter expert (SME) advisement to develop network and cybersecurity design requirements and criteria based on proven technologies and industry best practices. Network and cybersecurity SME must work closely with instrumentation and controls engineers, electrical engineers, field technicians and programmers to ensure needs, use, and operation practices are well understood as network and cybersecurity requirements are defined and design criteria documents are developed by the consulting SME.

• Provide technical Network and Cybersecurity advice for the Instrumentation and Electrical teams.

• Develop and submit project execution plan specifications for the projects for review and approval. The specifications shall detail all activities required to configure, deploy, optimize, and maintain the secured control network.

• Provide support to create new Owner's specification for Control System Network and Cybersecurity Design Criteria for review and approval.

• Attend project reviews (as required) and review technical submittals developed by other subcontractors on as needed basis.

• Interact with the project design contractors to help steer the final, approved design.

• Facilitate and/or conduct hands-on trainings for Owner engineers and field technicians for any new technologies and/or solutions deployed as part of this effort.

Skills and Requirements

• 8+ years' experience designing, configuring, deploying, optimizing, and maintaining Networks and Cybersecurity systems.

• Advisor must be available to attend in-person design review meetings on-site or at required company locations in an as-needed basis. Most likely 1 day a week on Tuesdays.

• Familiar with Rockwell's PlantPAx system - a Distributed Control System (DCS)

• Familiar with Rockwell Automation's software ThinManager

• Familiar with Rockwell Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB) software. For each Project, the preliminary product selection and configuration to be created in IAB.

• Come from a highly regulated engineering industry (Construction, Oil & Gas, Power, Automotive, Aerospace, etc) - Oil & Gas Experience null
