job summary:

Tatum by Randstad is recruiting for a Director of Cost Accounting to oversee the manufacturing/production cost functions for a Los Angeles, CA based manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing costing, documenting new accounting procedures, inventory/cost accounting, account reconciliation, month-end close, and other various accounting duties as needed.

This contract-to-hire opportunity is an onsite role and is an immediate need!

Compensation Range: $65/hr. to $90/hr. based on experience.

responsibilities:

  • Perform routine review and analysis of purchase price variances and related; report variances to management.

  • Analyze manufacturing variances, manufacturing spending, and manufacturing operations.

  • Responsible for proper inventory valuation from a physical inventory perspective of all inventories on hand; lead audits of physical inventory and finished-goods.

  • Responsible for proper inventory valuation from a pricing and standard costing perspective; ensure that standard costs of raw materials and finished goods are updated periodically.

  • Partner with operations and quality management to ensure inventory movement transactions are properly recorded.

  • Perform close process for all inventory and cost related areas including variance accounting and reconciliation of all inventory related accounts

  • Prepare monthly operations reports which captures manufacturing performance indicators, inventory levels (raw materials shelf life, raw materials and finished months on hand, E&O, etc.).

  • Interface with and respond to requirements from external financial auditors at RSM with respect to supporting and explaining the valuation and reporting of inventory and cost of goods sold related accounts in the financial statements.

  • Drive the improvement of the purchasing and cost accounting business process cycle to ensure proper segregation of duties, efficiency in the process, and sufficient preventive and detective controls.

qualifications:

  • 10+ years of accounting experience with at least 5 years of COST ACCOUNTING experience within a manufacturing environment required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA and/or CMA highly preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar; experience with various ERP implementations highly preferred.

  • Advanced Excel skills needed with extensive use of Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
