Robert Half Assistant Controller in Los Angeles, California

Description We are seeking an Assistant Controller based in Los Angeles, California. This role involves executing the accounting function across all departments, working closely with the CFO and team, and providing leadership to strengthen internal communications. The Assistant Controller will be a key player in the financial process, balancing multiple projects at once, and maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external partners.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring they are accurate and comply with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements

• Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements

• Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, budgets, and actual expenditures

• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the organization

• Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team

• Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc., when necessary

• Assist the CFO in developing and managing financial policies and procedures

• Oversee and manage all accounting system upgrades and implementations

• Evaluate and improve accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency

• Collaborate with other departments (sales, service, etc.) to align financial goals

• Regularly report the financial condition of the total dealership to the dealer/general manager

Skills:

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services

• Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions

• Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC)

• Understanding of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Skilled in Auditing

• Familiarity with Budget Processes Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as an Assistant Controller

• Must have automotive dealership experience

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is a must

• Knowledge of ERP Solutions is essential

• Prior experience with Great Plains (GPAC) is desirable

• Demonstrated ability to manage Accounting Functions

• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in Auditing is required

• Familiarity with Budget Processes is necessary
