Position Summary

The Janitor will have janitorial duties as well as operation and special events responsibilities. Working with the 2nd Janitor and the Operation Manager, he/she will ensure that Hope Harbor Watts-ABH is a clean and safe environment for residents and their families.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents and staff.

  • Mop, Strip, buff, and wax and vacuum floors,

  • Clean kitchen / dining room area as needed.

  • Store and maintain cleaning equipment.

  • Maintain grounds, all areas of property.

  • Wash ramps and railings on a regular rotation.

  • Report any inappropriate behavior on the grounds to the Management.

  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed.

  • Operations: Pick up supplies as needed.

  • Organize and maintain Storage container and other storage areas.

  • Clean Restrooms and Showers daily

  • Maintain both shelter areas (Men’s side and Women’s side)

  • Pressure wash windows, walls and floors as needed.

  • Empty all trash daily. Special Events:

  • Assist on special events, community events, classes, groups and meetings in setting up and breaking down.

  • Perform minor repairs using hand tools and power tools.

  • Perform all duties with courtesy and respect, maintaining a healthy relationship with the staff and clients.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Operations Manager, Program Manager or Director.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent.

  • Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred.

  • Minimum one-year experience in janitorial and grounds maintenance.

  • Able to work with minimum supervision.

  • Flexibility of hours.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Service-minded and able to function in a multi-facility environment.

  • Knowledge of proper usage of cleaning chemicals as complying with Cal / OSHA regulations.

  • Knowledge in Janitorial work

  • Driver’s license, ability to drive

  • Must be able to pass background check
