What You Will Do

The Advanced Engineering Analysis Group (W-13) is seeking candidates for the position of Program Manager 1. The Advanced Engineering Analysis Group (W-13) provides the Nuclear Weapons Program at Los Alamos National Laboratory with excellence in engineering analysis, predictive modeling, validated simulations, and the quantification of margins and uncertainty. As a Program Manager you will be responsible for documenting, tracking, and ensuring that program deliverables are being completed on schedule. This will involve creating work packages, developing budget allocations, and preparing reports. This role requires working with technical personnel to define the scope, schedule, and budget and ensuring required activities are executed and tracked appropriately (e.g., development project local and integrated schedules, ALDW integrated schedule)

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Program Management:

Entry-Level knowledge of and experience in program management of technical or operational work, including defining program work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones; developing cost, scope, and schedule baselines; reporting cost and schedule variance; and managing change control and risk.

Project Control & Scheduling:

Ability to manage cost and schedule commitments for projects or programs. Entry-Level knowledge and demonstrated ability in applying project controls principles, including cost and performance reporting, variance analysis and use of cost and schedule tools.

Communication & Teamwork

Experience interacting effectively with personnel at all levels, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflict. Ability to support cross-organization teams to ensure complex technologies or products are delivered within budget and on schedule. Ability to successfully support multiple teams or projects simultaneously. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent customer service skills, friendly and positive communicator, and empathetic customer relator. Ability to evaluate a problem and generate ways to overcome the problem.

Education/Experience:

Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 2 years of directly related technical and project management experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of LANL financial policies and principles including forecasting and resource loading.

• Master of Business Administration strongly preferred.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.

• Familiarity with scheduling tools, such as P6.

• Experience working with the Weapons Engineering and Weapons Physics organizations at LANL.

• Entry-Level knowledge of nuclear weapons, NNSA facilities, or DoD customers that support the U.S. stockpile.

• Work experience with IT operations or projects.

• Demonstrated experience with a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures, directives and DPBPS requirements.

• Entry-Level knowledge in estimating project costs. Project Management experience familiar with managing mid-size to moderately complex projects in the areas of scope management, budget and schedule. Demonstrated experience in working/coordinating information technology (IT) and operations projects.

• Experience with Agile project management methodology and tools.

• Technical degree preferred

• Active DOE "Q" or other Top Secret clearance

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
