Job Information

Los Alamos National Laboratory Postdoctoral researcher in computational design of protein libraries and testing in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

You will work with a medium sized team of talented coworkers, towards developing high throughput design and screening of proteins with predetermined functions. Some aspects of the work require performing computational design of protein sequences and backbones. You will help design large libraries of sequences to display on yeast surface and evaluate their function. You will help design computational/experimental workflow for targeted protein-protein interactions. Your high throughput experimental evaluation will not only speed up discovery of functional proteins, but also provide us with valuable data to learn from.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

1.Background in one or more field such as protein biochemistry, protein modeling and structure biology

2.Experience in designing computationally informed libraries, building and testing in a high throughput set up

3.Strong record of communication via publications (in peer-reviewed journals) and presentations in conferences

Education/Experience: PhD in Biological Sciences or related field with emphasis on protein biochemistry and biophysics

Desired Qualifications: Two or more qualifications from below highly recommended

  1. Experience in Python scripting

2.Exposure to computational protein modeling tools such as Rosetta, AlphaFold, ProteinMPNN and RFdiffusion

3.Data assisted learning (Machine learning, Deep learning) and applications to protein design

  1. Proficiency in molecular biology and building of genetic libraries

5.Exposure to high throughput protein production and evaluation

6.Experience to experimental methods in protein-protein interaction

7.Protein based therapeutics or diagnostics

8.Exposure to flow cytometry and high throughput screening assay design and implementation; for example, yeast surface display for engineered peptides
