Los Alamos National Laboratory Postdoctoral Research Associate - Early Career Computational Physicist in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

We are seeking a Computational Physics Postdoc to join the Lagrangian Codes Group (XCP-1), which develops and maintains large scale, massively parallel multi-physics codes targeting the computers of today and the future, including heterogeneous architectures, ARM, and GPUs, for both scientific research and Laboratory mission interests. Our areas of expertise include computational fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, materials science, radiation (magneto)hydrodynamics, plasma physics, turbulence, high explosives, mesh generation and optimization, and research software engineering. Candidates well-versed in computational fluid dynamics are highly encouraged to apply.

The duties of our well-compensated professionals include research and development of applied physics and engineering models, the implementation of these methods into production codes using excellent software development practices, the testing and validation of these methods, and the education and support of users as they adopt and apply these methods. We encourage mentoring for new postdocs to build skills quickly, and we work within a dynamic multi-physics team environment that facilitates productive and collaborative relationships with our software users, other software teams, and with theoreticians and experimentalists across LANL. Additional scientific collaboration with scientists outside of XCP-1 is highly encouraged.
