Los Alamos National Laboratory Advanced Bioimaging Postdoctoral Research Associate in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral candidate to contribute to projects that will exploit quantum-enhanced methods to visualize single antigen-antibody binding events as well as advance the state of the art in light-sheet imaging. This position will both develop and exploit these new novel optical methods for problems relevant to pathogen detection, host/pathogen interactions, and algal biofuel development.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Expertise in the development (hardware and software) of novel optical instrumentation

  • Experience in optical microscopy or laser spectroscopy

  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievement through publications and presentations

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to conduct research independently.

Education: Ph.D. in an appropriate Engineering discipline, Physics, Biophysics, or Chemistry/Biochemistry completed within the last five years or soon to be completed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in single photon detection and timing

  • Experience with rapid, real-time feedback methods, including field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs)

  • Previous experience with writing custom software for data and image analysis

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
