This position is responsible for casting and finishing operations and provides first level of supervision on assigned shift. Incumbent oversees the safe production of quality products delivered on-time, following all plant policies, procedures, and practices including compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations and policies.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide job assignments, guidance and training for casting and finishing operators on assigned shift, optimizing utilization of operators and equipment to produce quality products safely, on schedule, and within budget goals. Follows up to ensure that assignments are completed.

  • Establish priorities, reassigns operators as necessary and measures efficiency of operators.

  • Cover for absences and ensures others are available to cover for own absence. Calls other operators in if necessary or shuts down equipment/operations after consulting with Operations Manager.

  • Respond to or assigns operators to work on breakdown repairs.

  • Report equipment issues/breakdowns that cannot be fixed by self or operators to Maintenance and Operations Manager.

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommends/implements improved methods of manufacture to improve safety, reduce costs, or improve quality.

  • Use and support Lean Sigma methodology to improve manufacturing processes.

  • Oversee employee training in all aspects of the casting & finishing operations to assure continuity of the operation and conformance to documented procedures.

  • Evaluate the performance of employees on a continual basis and provides constructive feedback to ensure employees’ success. Completes new hire performance evaluations and provides feedback to Operations Manager for semi-annual employee evaluations.

  • Recommend employee progression in job category.

  • Follow fair and impartial application of established personnel policies and immediately reports all policy/procedure violations to Operations Manager.

  • Protect and preserve physical manufacturing assets through direct audits and observations.

  • Monitor inventory of supplies and materials and reports replenishment requirements to Operations Manager to ensure that immediate and planned work progress.

  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping and 5s in all areas.

  • Actively participates in the EHSMS Program, Safety Committee, and Strategic Teams.

  • Report and share shift activities daily with other lead operators and Operations Manager.

  • Fill in for Operations Manager during vacations, extended absences, or as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS: ​

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

  • College degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of casting and/or finishing experience.

  • Knowledge of SAP and Process Map preferred.
