Element Consulting M&O Project Manager in Long Beach, California

Job Summary: The Maintenance & Operations Project Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating maintenance and facilities projects within our client's school district, K-12. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and managing a variety of maintenance, construction, and renovation projects across multiple school facilities. The Project Manager ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage maintenance and operations projects within the K-12 school district, including building renovations, facility upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and environmental compliance initiatives.

  • Collaborate with district administrators, school principals, and maintenance staff to assess project needs, define scopes of work, and establish project goals and timelines.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with district priorities and funding constraints.

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and subcontractors involved in project implementation, ensuring adherence to contract terms, quality standards, and safety protocols.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure timely completion and delivery of project outcomes.

  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure workmanship quality, safety compliance, and adherence to district policies and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, budgets, change orders, and close-out documents.

  • Provide regular updates and reports to district leadership, stakeholders, and community members on project status, milestones achieved, and budgetary expenditures.

  • Foster positive relationships with school communities, local agencies, and regulatory bodies to support effective project execution and community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Proven experience in project management, specifically in maintenance, facilities, or construction projects within educational institutions or public sector organizations.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance standards relevant to school facilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including school administrators, staff, contractors, and community members.

  • Proficiency in project management software tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management credentials.

  • Experience with sustainable building practices, energy efficiency initiatives, and LEED certification processes.

  • Familiarity with California State regulations and requirements governing school facility operations and maintenance.

Salary:  Dependent on education and experience, salary range:  $125K-$150K.
