Robert Half Benefits Specialist in Long Beach, California

Description We are in search of a Compensation & Benefits Specialist in the construction industry, based in Long Beach, California. This role will primarily focus on managing and administering the company's employee benefits, from health insurance to life insurance, and beyond. The selected candidate will also lead company-wide open enrollment for benefits-eligible employees and manage all employee enrollments, disenrollments, and mid-year changes into and out of benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc. This is a contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Research, analyze, and administer healthcare plans and wellness programs

• Lead open enrollment tasks including renewals meetings, market pricing, education material creation and/or updates, and communication strategy planning and execution

• Coordinate and perform duties related to employee benefits including health, disability, and leaves of absence

• Reconcile insurance billing conducting regular audits

• Serve as the point of contact to insurance broker for administrative items

• Ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local employment laws and procedures

• Maintain online enrollment system

• Resolve employee issues with insurance providers and other benefits administrators

• Run, analyze, and submit reports as required by state agencies and vendors

• Manage, review, and submit accurate records for annual Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting

• Work with the broker and administer COBRA enrollments and associated invoices

• Manage all Leave of Absences with FMLA, PDL, PFL and others as required

• Educate and assist employees with questions about Leave of Absences

• Provide ongoing support for benefits and People Operations team Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits Specialist role within the Construction/Contractor industry.

• Proficient in using ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now.

• Experience with HRMS, About Time, and Ceridian software is preferred.

• Familiarity with Dayforce system is a strong asset.

• Must possess knowledge about Benefit Functions, Claim Administration, and Compensation Administration.

• Proven experience in managing Compliance, Benefits Administration, Benefits Analysis, and Benefits Design.

• Capability to handle Benefits Coordination, Compensation & Benefits, Competitive Benefits, and Competitive Benefits Package.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is preferred.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

• Professional certification in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
