Charles Schwab Senior Manager, AI Risk Governance in Lone Tree, Colorado

Model Risk Oversight (MRO) is a strategic function within the broader Corporate Risk Management umbrella that manages all quantitative and predictive modeling products, including artificial intelligence, to protect our clients and our company. The governance team within MRO plays a key role in establishing the AI risk program- creating policies and procedures, establishing reporting, ensuring our program is compliant with regulatory expectations, and meets industry standard. This role provides an opportunity to drive program requirements and creatively in the very early stages of establishing AI risk at Schwab.

We are looking for an individual contributor to help build out and establish AI risk at Schwab in alignment with other corporate risk management programs. This role will report to the Director of Model Risk Governance. This Senior Manager will have a broad impact as they maintain and socialize an Artificial Intelligence risk standard. MRO will also rely on this person to create monitoring programs for different AI techniques, to maintain risks and controls related to AI, and to design AI model validation scope and model performance monitoring requirements. As a key contributor, this Senior Manager will collaborate with risk partners from teams across Schwab to include other risk disciplines in the risk management of AI. To ensure success, this Senior Manager will establish AI risk reporting, perform AI risk assessments to identify, remediate and execute on areas for improvement, and will roll out and communicate these changes. A key part of this role will also be organizing and providing training on AI risk program requirements.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience with AI risk.

  • Experience with program management.

  • Experience with policies, standards, procedures, and risk frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or related certifications.

  • Working knowledge of NIST AI 100-1, FHFA AB 2022-02, or other AI governance frameworks.

  • Experience in the banking industry and understanding of AI techniques and concepts.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to define and follow standards and processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and gain buy-in.

CO Salary Range: USD $101,000 - $224,400 / Year
