MAIN PURPOSE:

The Product Owner/Analyst will be based in our London office and will be involved in scope definition, requirements gathering, product development, implementation and ongoing changes in support of AXIS’s newly formed Digital Underwriting team.

As Product Owner, you will be responsible for managing the suite of products in support of the team and liaising with nearshore development teams to align business needs with platform delivery.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills, be self-starting and independent in the delivery of assigned tasks and small projects. The candidate needs to be able to bridge the gap between the business, IT and our key vendors in a rapidly changing environment.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Duties May Include

• Work with the Digital Underwriting team to proactively solve problems, identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements.

• Gather and prioritise business requirements.

• Liaise with IT & operational teams to ensure changes to platforms, processes and operating models are successfully managed end-to-end and meet the changing needs of the business.

• Knowledge of product / software development lifecycle (SDLC) phases of analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of the platforms.

• Assist and develop detailed business cases and requirement documentation for new products and enhancements to existing products.

• Where appropriate, make changes to platforms and pricing models in line with business needs and internal control processes.

• Help facilitate meetings and workshops.

• Act as SME within the insurance industry staying up to date with the latest trends, regulations and best practices.

• Communicate product updates and changes to internal and external stakeholders.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

Methodology, Tools & Techniques (Formal Skills)

• Solid experience as a product owner and/or analyst.

• Experience in defining and prioritising business requirements and needs.

• Able to analyse data to help confirm and drive requirement and solution analysis.

• Experience working with IT teams to help define technical requirements and solutions.

• Creative problem-solving ability to define solutions and alternatives that meet business needs.

• Demonstrable ability to fully understand business processes and business needs.

• Strong knowledge of insurance products, processes and regulations.

Facilitation, Presentation, and Interpersonal Skills

• Team player possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of operating in a geographically dispersed environment included outsourced services/offshore IT teams.

• Good documentation capabilities with high attention to detail.

• Able to facilitate meetings and workshops.

• Good interpersonal skills (proactive behaviour, consulting attitude, etc.)

• Good organisational skills including ability to self-start own task assignments and to independently lead work.

• Strong detail-orientation.

• Ability to work in a dynamic, flexible environment.

Domain and System Knowledge

• London insurance market, general insurance, or financial services experience.

• Experience with Agile methodologies.

• Familiarity with any of the following systems highly beneficial: Policy Admin, Delegated Underwriting, Pricing Tools (e.g. Coherent), Low code platforms (e.g. Unqork), Retail SME platforms (e.g. Acturis).

• Proficient in software systems commonly used to manage Programs/Projects (Azure Dev Ops, MS Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint
