MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The Regulatory Change Team manages a wide portfolio of regulations.

  • The candidate will be a senior member of the Regulatory Change Team, and will be responsible for key regulatory themes, mainly on Payments Regulations, where he will be the Subject Matter Expert. The successful candidate will need to monitor regulatory events, complete impact analysis, manage and coordinate stakeholder groups, provide advice to the business regarding regulatory interpretation, and complete reviews of implementation documents linked to Payments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Be the lead SME in Payments related regulations. Advise and/or support on the implementation of regulatory projects, and particularly on payment regulations projects. Participate and represent MUFG in Industry Association, and support advocacy actions such as drafting consultation responses to the regulators. Draft new policies and amend existing ones triggered by regulatory changes. This will include liaising and leading internal stakeholder groups, and presenting to senior management. Analyse complex regulatory requirements and present in a way that is understandable to a non-technical audience. Understanding of basic project management is required. Understanding of how regulators/legislators complete regulatory changes in the UK and EU is also required.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Recent work experience and strong knowledge of Payments Regulation, in both the UK and EU. Work experience in implementation of PSD2 as well as other payments regulations.

  • Work experience in a Compliance function in the banking industry, relevant trade associations (AFME, BBA, AFB), consultancy firm, or at the regulator.

  • Experience on drafting Compliance Policies, and providing briefings to senior stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Experience in other market regulatory themes such EMIR, MiFID, etc are a plus.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills. Presence and confidence to engage with senior management, trade bodies and local regulators. Team work is an essential part of the role.

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Educated to degree level.

Preferred:

  • Professional qualifications such as CISI Diploma or other respected qualifications.
