AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Our team is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join us. The successful candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator both written and verbally, and will lead multi-discipline, highly technical project initiatives. The ideal candidate will be familiar with one or more AWS products, and will have successfully managed multiple technology projects. The TPM will be fully competent in project management tools and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle. Successful candidates will have a strong program management and system design background. As well as be detail oriented, self-driven and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work with systems engineers, system developers, technical product managers and software developers to coordinate the launch of different services into regions of differing security classification.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and high-risk areas.

  • Produce and evaluate launch, resource, and compliance metrics.

  • Work with service owners to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

  • Manage the build and deployment of new tooling to streamline and automate security, testing, and region launch related initiatives.

  • Support process improvement projects in coordination with service teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience in technical program management working directly with software engineering teams

  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

  • Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals

  • Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle from conception to delivery

  • Experience in creating and presenting functional reports inside a PMO office such as Incident Trends, Time to Recovery, etc

  • Strong organisational skills, successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders, technical program managers, and software development teams

  • Experience in creating and managing team project plans; prior success in driving execution of project plans with multiple teams in support of business goals

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects

  • Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and proven leadership skills
